Fed: Australian aid agencies Kosovo appeal wrap

As thousands of ethnic Albanian refugees stream across the borders from war torn Kosovo,
Australian aid groups have launched relief appeals.

PLAN Australia president WENDY MCCARTHY says this is the biggest movement of refugees since
the Second World War and PLAN wants to raise $40,000 to provide temporary shelter, food and
medical supplies.

Community Aid Abroad says tens of thousands of refugees had already arrived in Albania,
Montenegro and Macedonia and the exodus was likely to increase.

Executive director JEREMY HOBBS has called on Australians to dig deep in the spirit of
Easter and help the many innocent victims of this awful conflict.

Charles Tapp of CARE Australia says they've been overwhelmed by the public response
to their appeal and an estimated $250,000 has been raised.
