Fed: Live animal trade on last legs: Democrats
CANBERRA, Feb 5 AAP - The live animal trade was on its last legs, the Australian Democrats
said today.
Party leader Andrew Bartlett said the federal government's decision to recoup the $10.2
million cost of the Cormo Express affair may be the industry's death knell.
The government is levying live animal trading companies $1.50 for every head of cattle,
60 cents for every sheep or lamb and 40 cents for every goat to cover the cost incurred
solving the Cormo affair.
