Fed: Howard backs ACB decision to drop Pakistan tour
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD says the Australian Cricket Board has taken a responsibledecision in abandoning a planned tour of Pakistan.
Mr HOWARD says he informed Pakistan President PERVEZ MUSHARRAF of the decision beforeits announcement.
The ACB yesterday cancelled its planned October three-test tour of Pakistan, citingserious concerns over the safety and security of the team.
Mr HOWARD says the decision is regrettable but unavoidable, and he says he believesthe Pakistan cricket authorities will understand the decision.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is warning all Australians to defer travelto Pakistan.
